Um Plácido Domingo é um diálogo performativo com pessoas - sobretudo os bebés e as crianças mais pequenas -, mas também com os pássaros, as árvores, a água, o vento, os aviões e outros personagens dominicais do Jardim da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. É simultaneamente uma “performance” e uma interacção lúdica informal que vai buscar à música, à arte, ao corpo, os elementos com que se “brinca” e que estimula o contacto, a comunicação, a criação de ligações entre as pessoas. Um Plácido Domingo não é um espectáculo convencional: não pressupõe um espaço estável/isolado com pessoas a ver o que os artistas fazem durante uma duração determinada, mas inclui aspectos com esse detalhe artístico, sobretudo em alguns espaços (assinalados no mapa) onde estão instalados alguns elementos musicais e cénicos como o Pomar dos Gamelões, o Campo das Flores Sonívoras, o Trilho do Rumor das Canas, a Mata das Casas de Pássaros ou o Paúl dos Tambores Cantantes. Também não é uma “procissão” em que as pessoas seguem um conjunto de artistas através dum percurso pré-definido, embora a deambulação seja um dos seus ingredientes. Tem elementos fixos e improvisados, envolve artistas de múltiplos “credos”, talvez seja uma Garden-Opera ou um Happyning. É algo que cresce naturalmente a partir daquilo que acontece num Domingo normal, e por isso essa é melhor forma de o desfrutar: deslocar-se, parar, ir à procura, ver e ouvir o jardim.
Este trabalho resulta dum percurso de criação que foi partilhado por um grupo de adultos (artistas, professores e educadores) e crianças que ao longo do ano participaram em várias acções do projecto Opus Tutti. Neste primeiro ano, propusemo-nos fazer germinar ideias, materiais, contactos e recursos humanos.
Deste conjunto de experiências brotou naturalmente Um Plácido Domingo. Festejo final que é também uma espécie de improvisação sobre possibilidades musicais a revitalizar no dia a dia de qualquer creche. Festa colectiva, chamada aos Pais e à comunidade sobre a riqueza das boas experiências na infância: o som e a cor da Natureza, a voz e o corpo como primeiros instrumentos de organização da musicalidade com que todos nascemos. Música no seu estado puro, primário, orgânico, artesanal. Abracem as árvores, façam soar as pedras do caminho, ouçam o som das canas, cantem com as aves!
A Placid Sunday

A Placid Sunday is a performance dialogue with people – in particular with babies and smaller children –, but also with the birds, the trees, the water, the wind, the airplanes and other Sunday personages that from the Garden of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. It is at the same time a performance and an informal, playful interaction. It draws on music, art, the body, the elements with which we “play” and that stimulate the contact, the communication, the creation of links between people. A Placid Sunday is not a conventional show: it does not presuppose a stable/isolated space with people watching what the artists do during a set time, but it does include aspects with that artistic detail, particularly in some spaces (marked on the map). These are places where some musical and scenic elements can be found, such as the Orchard of the Gamelans, the Field of Sonorous Flowers, the Path of the Cacophonous Canes, the Forest of the Bird Houses and the Mire of the Singing Drums. It is also not a “procession” where the people follow a group of artists along a pre-defined route, although wandering is one of the ingredients. There are fixed elements and improvised ones, it involves artists of multiple “creeds”, maybe it would be a Garden-Opera or a Happyning. It is something that grows naturally from that which happens on a normal Sunday, and as a result, that is the best way to appreciate it: go there, stop, hunt around, see and hear the garden.
This work results from a creative path that was shared with a group of adults (artists, teachers and pre-school teachers) and children which over the course of the year participated in various activities of the Opus Tutti project. In this first year, we challenged ourselves to germinate ideas, materials, contacts and human resources.
This set of experiences naturally gave rise to A Placid Sunday. A final festival that is also a sort of improvisation of musical possibilities, to be brought to life again in the day-to-day of any crèche. A collective party, a call to the Parents and the community about the richness of the good experiences in childhood: the sound and the colour of Nature, the voice and the body as the first instruments for organizing musicality, with which we are all born. Music in its pure state, primary, organic, artisanal. Hug the trees, make the stones on the path sing, listen to the sound of the canes, sing with the birds!
