Numa brilhante conferência realizada há anos atrás na Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, o escritor António Lobo Antunes afirmou algo como: “o objectivo da educação é dotar as pessoas com instrumentos de construção de felicidade para a vida”. É esta a ideia simples que inspirou a Companhia de Música Teatral e o Laboratório de Música e Comunicação na Infância do CESEM (FCSH-UNL) a propor ao Serviço de Educação da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian um projecto centrado em práticas artísticas e que permitisse o desenvolvimento de aspectos sensoriais, motores, emocionais, afectivos, intelectuais, cognitivos e espirituais. Opus Tutti é um projecto artístico e educativo com duração de 4 anos, que visa a concepção de boas práticas de intervenção na comunidade dirigidas à infância e primeira infância. Opus Tutti integra acções dirigidas a diversos públicos-alvo e pretende: criar modelos e materiais de trabalho direccionados à primeira infância, numa intervenção transversal a vários agentes educativos e sociais; oferecer oportunidades de fruição artística e interacção social de elevada qualidade; desenvolver modelos de formação “imersiva” e “implosiva” na área artística; implementar um estudo piloto numa creche, intervindo ao nível das práticas culturais e educativas das famílias e profissionais de forma a contribuir para o seu sucesso e enraizamento social. O projecto desenvolve-se ao longo de quatro fases com a duração total de quatro anos.
In a memorable conference that took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation some years ago, the writer António Lobo Antunes said something to the effect that “the objective of education is to endow people with the tools for building happiness in life”. It is this simple idea that inspired Companhia de Música Teatral and the Laboratory of Music and Communication in Infancy of CESEM (the Sociology and Musical Aesthetics Research Centre at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, Universidade Nova, Lisbon) to propose a project to the Education Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation centred on artistic works which would allow the development of sensory, motor, emotional, affective, intellectual, cognitive and spiritual aspects. Opus Tutti is an artistic and educational project lasting four years, which envisages the creation of good practice relating to work in the community focusing on childhood and early childhood. Opus Tutti covers activities for diverse audiences and seeks to: create models and supporting material focusing on early childhood, in work which spans various educational and social actors; offer opportunities for artistic realisation and social interaction of exceptional quality; develop “immersive” and “implosive” training models in the artistic arena and implement a pilot study in a crèche, with involvement in the cultural and educational practices of the families and the professionals, so as to contribute to their success and social integration. The project is developed in four phases covering a period of four years.
O ano Germinar foi um ano de exploração que visava sobretudo experimentar modelos de interacção e constituir equipas capazes de implementar acções originais. Incluiu experiências como workshops exploratórios para bebés em contacto com crianças mais velhas; workshops de “ludofónica experimental” para músicos, artistas e educadores, workshops/espectáculos (AliBaBach e Bebé PlimPlim) para bebés acompanhados pelos respectivos Pais em condições que permitiram recolher dados necessários para a realização de reflexões mais profundas relativamente ao tema da experiência artística na primeira infância e à utilização de meios musicais como mediadores comunicacionais. Deu origem a trabalhos de reflexão metodológica e de criação de materiais e estratégias que promovam a participação e fruição artística com impacto na infância. A performance Um Plácido Domingo, em Setembro, resultou de alguns destes trabalhos e de duas residências artísticas, apontando caminhos para os passos seguintes do projecto. Em Novembro teve lugar na Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian um encontro internacional subordinado ao tema Arte para a Infância e Desenvolvimento Humano.
2011 Germinar- Budding
Germinar (Budding) was a year of exploration whose main focus was experimenting with models of interaction and building teams capable of implementing original works. This included experiences such as exploratory workshops for babies in contact with older children; “experimental ludophonic” workshops for musicians, artists and teachers; workshops/shows (AliBaBach and Bebé PlimPlim) for babies accompanied by their parents in an environment which allowed the necessary data to be collected for a deeper reflection on the artistic experience of early childhood and the usage of musical means as communicational mediators. This gave rise to work reflecting on the methodology and the creation of materials and strategies that promote artistic participation and fulfilment with their associated impact on childhood. The performance Um Plácido Domingo (A Placid Sunday), in September, was the result of some of these works and from two artistic workshops, identifying the way forward for the subsequent steps in the project. In November, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation hosted an international meeting on the subject of Art for Childhood and Human Development.
O ano Enraizar envolveu uma intervenção numa creche-piloto (Centro Infantil do Roseiral) onde se pretendem implementar e testar algumas das ideias a criar no âmbito do projecto. O processo de trabalho visa o reforço comunicacional da díade e um grande envolvimento dos Pais.
Pretende-se nutrir o papel dos Pais, os primeiros Mestres, incentivando-os a fazer "ninho" e a alargar o "colo da cultura" que têm para oferecer aos seus filhos. Houve lugar a Creche e Apareche, sessões regulares de música na creche realizadas ao final da tarde para permitir a participação dos Pais.
Aconteceram os workshops Afinação do Ouvir, Afinação do Olhar e Afinação do Brincar que juntaram na Fundação Gulbenkian Pais e bebés do Roseiral com outros pais e crianças.
2012 Enraizar- Putting Down Roots
Putting Down Roots was a year working with a pilot crèche (the Roseiral Childcare Centre) with the intention of testing some of the ideas created over the course of the project. The work employs processes that seek the communicational reinforcement of the dyad and a large degree of involvement by the Parents.
It is designed to cultivate the role of the Parents, the first Masters, encouraging them to make a “nest” and to enlarge the “lap of culture” that they have to offer their children. Regular music sessions, called Creche e Apareche (a play on words which can be read as “come along and grow”), were held at the end of the afternoon to allow the Parents to participate.

Serão delineadas estratégias promotoras da apreciação de práticas artísticas de excelência num espírito de apreço e colaboração entre família e profissionais.

Durante o ano Frutificar o processo de trabalho subjacente à apresentação final deverá consolidar a abertura cultural das famílias e a sua implicação no processo educativo num espírito de fruição, confiança e auto-estima. A apresentação final do projecto basear-se-á na articulação de um conjunto de peças performativas co-criadas pelos utilizadores da creche e outros agentes, visando a “reinscrição” das experiências vividas ao longo de todo o projecto, o reforço dos laços comunitários e a auto-sustentabilidade do projecto.
